Obamacare Losers – Cost of insurance as a percentage of Income

Obamacare Infographic – Middle Class seems to be the big losers

The chart(s) below display how the insurance costs under Obamacare compare against the overall Income for a typical family of 4. While I understand the gradual increase of the percentage of income for insurance costs outlined in Obamacare (the less you make, the less % of income go to health insurance costs), I am not sure I fully understand why someone who makes ~$2,000 more in a year ($93,000 to $95,000) deserves to pay almost 5% more for health insurance (as a % of Income, or around $4,052 more). It would seem that middle class families that earn from $77,000 to $100,000 in annual income, pay a much higher percentage of income for Insurance.

Your graphics are great. Thanks for pointing this out–few people seem to want to talk about this subset of the population that will very definitely not benefit from Obamacare. My family’s anticipated premiums (Wash state) in 2014 will be about 13.5% of our income. Many of the new benefits that I will be paying for, I don’t want or need. Will I have another option? I don’t know yet.
